Meeting with John Bell from Prostar

Sean Comerford, Mark Yates and I had a very useful meeting with John Bell, of Prostar, yesterday.  I think our sponsorship/partnership arrangement with them is going to be beneficial in many ways.

National Assembly meeting

Had a really good meeting with the National Assembly on Tuesday (good job people hadn’t arranged to fly!).  Some great work being done on developing the Website so it can better support members’ involvement in sport, and generate income for the association (thanks to Gary Bankhead).  Equally excellent work done on the lastest edition of Fire Sport magazine – well worth a look.

We (led by former Chair, Mark Yates) have now closed the sponsorship deal for sports clothing with Prostar.  This will mean £100k of clothing being provided to sports sections and national teams over the next 5-years and, also, access to a great range of discounted sports clothing for all fire and rescue service staff (50% of until the end of May).

Also looking forward to this year’s FitFit conference in Hertfordshire.  Looks like it’s going to be really good.

Update

Hello All

We are now in the final stages of putting together the latest edition of Fire Sport magazine.  Sam Nicholson is doing a great job with this and I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading it.

More work is going on around issuing an FSSAA challenge to find the healthiest fire station in the UK.  I’m hoping the the FireFit working group will be able to help in putting this together and will be speaking to Paul Hancock on that basis.

Andy Fry’s FSSAA blog……

Hello sports fans.  This is really quite exciting for me, as someone who’s never had a blog before.  I have been taking advice from my teenage daughters in terms of how one is supposed to conduct oneself in the blogoshere, so hope to retain some street-cred!

It’s my intention to use the blog to informally record details of what I’m upto during my year as Chair of the Association (attending sporting events; supporting sport and health related initiatives etc).  At this point, I’d like to thank Gary Bankhead who made it possible in his capacity as our IT whizz.

I had a really enjoyable day in London this week, at an event convened to officially mark Janine Culley being appointment as the Assocations Sports Personality of the Year.  Would you believe that the LFB Welfare Fund actually own a Pub.  Not a bar within a building used for something else but a full blown pub!

Anyway, I had a great afternoon with Janine and her colleagues and am really looking forward to working with her – she has an energy and enthusiasm that’s really infectious and I’m sure she will be a great Ambassador for the FSSAA.  More on this in the near future.
